PC Magazine Names Adobe Connect “Editor’s Choice”

PC Magazine has named Adobe Connect as the “Editor’s Choice” with 4.5 out of 5 stars on June 29, 2011.  They rated Adobe Connect as “the most capable, customizable web conferencing option available.”   They were especially impressesd with its ease of use for any size business while offering customizable pods and many ways to engage your audience.  While its price is slightly higher than WebEx and GoToMeeting, Connect’s scalability makes up for this many times over.

The only “con” expressed by PC Magazine was in the area of set-up and support.  GetConnect’s team are experts in this area, where we are set up to add value as an Authorized Adobe “Gold Solutions” partner.   Our understanding of Adobe Connect is unique, our product knowledge, technical depth, best practices know-how and understanding of  Adobe operations makes dealing with GetConnect a great experience for all of our clients in all business sectors.

Upgrading Hosted Customers to Adobe Connect 8 Service Pack 1 (SP1)

Starting on April 8, 2011, Adobe will begin upgrading hosted customers to Adobe Connect 8 Service Pack 1 (SP1). If you are already on version 8, SP1 will provide you with new user experience enhancements which are based on the feedback we received on the initial Adobe Connect 8 release. If you have not yet been upgraded to Adobe Connect 8, we will upgrade you directly to Adobe Connect 8 Service Pack 1 (SP1). If you’d like to know when your organization is scheduled to upgrade, you can use the “upgrade schedule estimator” tool (lower right side on the page).
 
Featured enhancements follow:

  • New layout bar to easily manage and switch between meeting layouts
  • Presenter Only Area Q&A pod
  • Support for 200 people split into 20 break-out rooms
  • Support for playback of H264 video
  • Ability to create screen-sharing black list

 
A new Adobe Connect Meeting add-in is required for SP1. It will install automatically the first time you join an Adobe Connect 8 SP1 meeting. If you are in a locked down environment, you will need to pre-install the add-in using the links provided here.

Note: These installers, updated on March 21, 2011 to Adobe Connect 8 SP1, are only required for organizations that thatdo not allow their end-users to install the Adobe Connect add-in via lightning download from the Adobe.com website.

Learning Solution Magazine’s Review of Adobe Connect 8

Learning Solution Magazine sees Adobe Connect 8 as a major player in the web conferencing marketplace.  The review states that “Web Conferencing is becoming a “standard” across every organization worldwide,”, in its November 11, 2010 review.  Adobe Connect 8 is especially appealing to training teams because of the rich media it supports, and ability to leverage learning objects that are in Flash from products like Captivate, Presenter, and a host of other tools commonly in the toolbox of a training designer and/or developer. Internet Freedom: Secretary Clinton Delivered Major Policy Address on Acrobat Connect Pro and ConnectSolutions Podium

On Thursday, January 21, 2010, the U.S. Department of State hosted a live webcast of a historic speech by Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton using Connect Pro and ConnectSolutions Podium. In the speech, Secretary Clinton delivered a major policy address on Internet freedom live from the Newseum in Washington, D.C. Following President Barack Obama’s recent Town Hall in China that shed light on internet censorship (also broadcast through ConnectSolutions Podium), Secretary Clinton’s speech continued this thread by setting U.S. policy on the issue.
